CAMECO CORPORATION, MCARTHUR RIVER URANIUM MINE AND KEY LAKE MILLING FACILITY

About This Organization

The MacArthur River Mine and the Key Lake Mill mine are currently (2018) in a shutdown state. This is due to an oversupply of uranium at low prices. The oversupply being due to the shutdown of the nuclear power plants in Japan and the shutdown of several plants in the USA. It is anticipated that demand will increase as several plants in Japan are restarting and there are 58 new nuclear power plants under construction across the world.

At the present time there are 103 workers at this site maintaining the facilities in a safe shutdown state.

The USW also represents the Food Services workers at the above sites as well as at the Cigar Lake Mine.
